Tball Rules of Play

Roster

1. Age: Players may not turn 7 prior to May 1st of the current year.
2. There is no limit to the number of players on a team roster.
3. T-Ball players may be called up and participate on a Grasshopper roster on a fill in basis as needed. Any double rostering must be reported to and approved by the NYAA baseball committee.
4.No additions may be made to a roster without the approval of the NYAA baseball director.

Field of Play

1. Field dimensions
Home to 1st base 60'
1st base to 2nd base 60'
2nd base to 3rd base 60'
3rd base to home plate 60'
Home plate to mound 44'
2. An "On Deck" area should be identified and made known to all players. Only ONE player is allowed to be in the on deck area at a time.
3. There shall be a dead ball area in front of home plate in the form of a 10' arch. Any ball hit in this area shall be considered a dead ball and re-played.
4. It is the responsibility of the HOME team to set up the field for play.
5. It is the responsibility of the AWAY team to drag the field after the game.

Equipment

1. Bats: No Restrictions
2. Balls: One new Easton 101 (or equivalent) soft-touch, leather cover, IncrediBall® will be provided by the home team for each game.
3. Spikes: No metal spikes allowed.
4. Helmets must be worn at all times by the batter, on deck batter, and all runners.
5. Uniforms: Shirts, hats, and socks will be provided by the NYAA. Players are required to wear full uniforms during games. Pants can be purchased at time of registration or by the player at a later date after communicating with your coach.

Playing Rules

1. Days, times, and field locations will be assigned by the NYAA. Any changes to the provided schedule must be approved by the NYAA.
2.Try to complete 4 full innings of play. If both coaches agree, more innings can be added, so long as no subsequent games or practices are delayed.
-Early season games should start entirely off of the Tee. The decision for any other types of batting other than off the Tee must be agreed upon by both coaches.
-If teams agree to coach-pitch or machine-pitch innings, keep the game moving by limiting the number of swings to (3 to 5) before allowing the batter to use the tee.
-Don’t start new innings after the 90 minute mark.
3. Each team shall bat the entire roster each inning.
4. There should be no "outs" in the early season games. All runners may advance one base on each hit. The final batter will hit a grand slam clearing all of the bases. Players on the field should wait until the last batter is home before coming off the field.
5. All players on the roster may play in the field. Players shall be placed on the field in normal baseball positions. Remaining players shall be placed in the best spots available to fill in the field of play.
6. Coaches may be on the field or at the plate during games. Coaches may stop the game at any time for instruction but may not participate in the play. A coach may not physically swing the bat for a player.
7. In order to protect the players, there is NO... stealing, leading, bunting, sliding, or throwing bats or helmets. Coaches must correct these offenses with each offending player to make them more aware.
8. Runners may not advance on overthrows, passed balls, or on catch and carries.
9. Games are considered official and complete if started and then stopped for any reason.
