Volleyball

Rec Club

Update: November 2020

We have a challenging situation as volleyball is inside, dependent on the school facilities, and we use multiple, revolving volunteers for our teams.  It makes it difficult to navigate during a pandemic.

Currently we are unable to offer open, recreational NYAA volleyball because of the large number of kids involved.  We are working on a plan to sponsor Club teams for girls 12-17.  Club involves tryouts at the end of this month, practice two nights a week, and 5-6 days of weekend tournaments through the end of March/beginning of April.  The cost includes a $16 AAU membership due BEFORE tryouts and $450 the first week of December.

When we have confirmed a coaching staff, facilities, and tryout schedule, we will post the info here and on the NYAA Facebook page and we will send a message to those who have shown interest in the last couple years.

Thank you

Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to buy?

Is the program co-ed?

Where are the practices held?

What about Shirts?

If there is no school, there is no practice!  The rule is if school closes or dismisses early due to inclement weather, practice is canceled. If the school has a delay, there is practice. If the Saturday session needs to be canceled, your coach or the director will contact you.  If the weather is getting bad after school dismisses the director will make a call on the safety of practice and you will get an email by 5 pm.

Activities are usually held at the Northwestern Elementary School gymnasium.

There are not tryouts for the NYAA recreation programs. This is a developmental program and we want to share the sport with as many kids as possible. All kids play.

The are tryouts in November for the girls’ club team offering a more competitive, tournament-based experience.
