The following policy and procedure will identify the chain of command and how it should be used:

The Baseball Director is responsible for the coordination, management, implementation and leadership of the entire baseball program.

The Head Coach of each team is responsible for the management, leadership and strategy of his individual team. This includes mentoring and managing the assistant coaches, coaching and managing the players.

Players are responsible for attending as many practices and games as possible, having an attitude of willingness to learn and work hard, but most of all, conducting themselves in the highest degree of sportsmanship possible.

Parents are responsible to encourage their young player to work hard and play with a high degree of sportsmanship, encourage coaches, other players and families, and most importantly conduct themselves in a high degree of sportsmanship and follow the NYAA code of conduct.

In the event a problem or concern arises that the parent needs to address with a coach, the following procedure will be followed:

• If it is concerning a safety issue, the parent should bring the issue to the attention of an assistant coach, head coach, appropriate baseball coordinator or the baseball director IMMEDIATELY.
• It shall be the policy of the NYAA Baseball program that the position a player plays on the field and the amount of playing time he/she earns in any particular game shall be determined at the sole discretion of that team’s coaches, with the head coach ultimately responsible for determining the fielding and batting lineup for any one game. The head coach is strongly encouraged to consult with his assistant coaches in making the batting/fielding lineup. All NYAA baseball coaches must abide by the Playing Time Standard Operating Procedure as well as any specific league playing time guidelines.
• If it concerns your son/daughter’s position, play time or other issue that occurred during a practice, bring the issue to the head coach’s attention at the end of the practice. If the coach has time to address your issue immediately, the head coach may elect to do so. If the head coach does not have time to address your issue or decides, at his sole discretion, not to address the issue directly after practice, the head coach will have 30 hours to contact you to discuss the issue or to mutually agree upon a time to discuss the issue.
• If it concerns your player’s position, play time or other issue that occurred during a game, the head coach MAY NOT be contacted in any way, shape or form for AT LEAST 24 HOURS. After 24 hours, the coach may be contacted or addressed by email or phone. Upon initial contact, the coach may elect, at his sole discretion, to address the issue immediately or schedule a time to address the issue, not to exceed 30 hours.
• If the parent, after addressing the issue with the head coach, is still not satisfied, or the head coach has exceeded the time frames set forth above, the parent shall contact the baseball director.

If the parent, after addressing the issue with the baseball director, is still not satisfied, the parent may take the issue to the NYAA Board of Directors.
